    Lipid Panel (Cholesterol Check)

    What is a Cholesterol Check?

A cholesterol check or lipid panel, provides essential insights into your heart health by evaluating the different types of fats in your blood. Monitoring these values can help assess your risk for heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular conditions. A comprehensive lipid or cholesterol panel includes:
    • Total Cholesterol (Serum) Total cholesterol measures the combined levels of cholesterol in your blood, giving a broad indication of overall cholesterol health.
    • HDL Cholesterol (Good Cholesterol) High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is known as the "good cholesterol" because it helps remove other forms of cholesterol from your bloodstream. Higher levels of HDL are generally better for heart health.
    • Triglycerides (Serum) Triglycerides are fats stored in the blood and used for energy. Elevated triglyceride levels can increase your risk of heart disease and may require lifestyle or dietary changes.
    • Calculated LDL (Bad Cholesterol) Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is often called "bad cholesterol" because it can lead to plaque buildup in your arteries. A calculated LDL level helps pinpoint your risk for atherosclerosis and heart disease.

    Why is it Important?

A cholesterol check gives you a clear view of your heart health, helping you to take preventive measures before issues arise. Regular cholesterol checks are recommended as part of an annual health screening, especially if you have a family history of heart disease, are overweight, or have high blood pressure.

    When Should You Get Tested?

Your healthcare provider might suggest regular cholesterol screenings for individuals who:
    • Are over the age of 40
    • Have a history of high cholesterol or heart disease
    • Are managing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or obesity
    • Want to proactively monitor your heart health

    Prepare for Your Cholesterol Test

It is often recommended to fast for 9-12 hours for the most accurate results, although some options are available that do not require fasting. Check with your healthcare provider for specific guidelines for you.

  • Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C)
    Self pay

    Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C)

A Blood Sugar Test called Hemoglobin A1C shows your average blood sugar over the last 2 to 3 months. You may also hear it called A1C, HbA1c, or glycated hemoglobin. You can book at participating labs on LabFinder and keep your results in our secure patient portal.

What is Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) and what does it show

The hemoglobin A1C test, also called A1C or HbA1c, measures how much sugar is attached to your red blood cells. It shows your average blood sugar level for the past few months. This helps see if your blood sugar is in a healthy range.

Who should get a Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) test

Common reasons: screening for diabetes or prediabetes, checking long term blood sugar control, or following up after a high glucose result. Your doctor may also order A1C if you have risk factors like family history, extra weight, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. LabFinder physicians review orders and results to help guide responsible care.

How long does a Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) test take and what to expect

You will check in, share a quick form, and have a small tube of blood taken from your arm. Most visits take 15 to 30 minutes, and the blood draw itself is just a few minutes. After the draw, you can get back to your day.

Is a Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) test safe and what are the risks

Yes, this is a quick, routine blood draw and is considered very safe. You might feel a quick pinch, notice a small bruise, or feel a little lightheaded for a moment afterward, but those effects usually fade quickly. Be sure to tell the staff if you take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, a rash or infection where blood will be drawn, or if you have fainted during blood draws before. They will take extra care to keep you comfortable.

How to prepare for a Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) test

Simple prep: fasting is not usually needed for an A1C test. Drink water, wear sleeves that roll up easily, and bring a photo ID and insurance card. Keep taking your medicines as directed unless your doctor says otherwise. If you recently had heavy exercise or illness, mention it to the lab so it can be noted with your result.

Related conditions a Blood Sugar Test (Hemoglobin A1C) test may help evaluate

This test may help evaluate diabetes, prediabetes, high blood sugar, long term blood sugar control, and risks tied to poor control such as nerve or kidney problems. Your doctor will review your results along with your history and symptoms before recommending any next steps.

    The Galleri Multi-Cancer Early-Detection Test

LabFinder is pleased to announce that we now offer the Galleri Multi-Cancer Early-Detection Test*, a single blood test that can screen for multiple cancers. The test is only available at the New York City HEMO locations. *The Galleri test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older. It is intended to be used in addition to, and not replace, other cancer screening tests.

    What is the Galleri Test?

    • Screens for a signal shared by 50+ cancers, including fast-spreading, aggressive cancers that don't show symptoms in early stages, such as pancreatic and ovarian.
    • Looks for signals associated with active cancer but does not predict your future genetic risk for cancer.
    • If a cancer signal is detected, Galleri predicts the tissue type or organ associated with the cancer signal.

Who qualifies for the Galleri Test?

This test is recommended for adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older, or with a family history of cancer. Please note use of Galleri is not recommended in individuals who are pregnant, 21 years old or younger, or undergoing active cancer treatment. Talk to us to determine if the test is right for you.

    How do I access it?

If you are interested in the Galleri test, please book through LabFinder at a HEMO location. Please note there is a limited supply, so reserve your tests as soon as possible.

    How much does it cost?

This test is self pay for $999, which includes doctor's oversight.

    Please Note:

The Galleri test does not detect a signal for all cancers and not all cancers can be detected in the blood. False positive and false negative results do occur. Galleri should be used in addition to healthcare provider recommended screening tests. Learn more by visiting Blood Test for Cancer Screening | Galleri® or watching this short video. Important Safety Information

The Galleri test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older. The Galleri test does not detect all cancers and should be used in addition to routine cancer screening tests recommended by a healthcare provider. Galleri is intended to detect cancer signals and predict where in the body the cancer signal is located. Use of Galleri is not recommended in individuals who are pregnant, 21 years old or younger, or undergoing active cancer treatment. Results should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in the context of medical history, clinical signs and symptoms. A test result of “No Cancer Signal Detected” does not rule out cancer. A test result of “Cancer Signal Detected” requires confirmatory diagnostic evaluation by medically established procedures (e.g.imaging) to confirm cancer. If cancer is not confirmed with further testing, it could mean that cancer is not present or testing was insufficient to detect cancer, including due to the cancer being located in a different part of the body. False-positive (a cancer signal detected when cancer is not present) and false-negative (a cancer signal not detected when cancer is present) test results do occur. Rx only. Laboratory / Test Information GRAIL’s clinical laboratory is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) and accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The Galleri test was developed, and its performance characteristics were determined by GRAIL. The Galleri test has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. GRAIL’s clinical laboratory is regulated under CLIA to perform high-complexity testing. The Galleri test is intended for clinical purposes.
