What is MRI IACS?

An MRI provides excellent assessment of the IAC and the bony changes occurring in the canal walls of the ear, and it provides excellent demonstration of the content of the canal. Pathological processes arising within the IAC are well visualized by various MR sequences.

Who should get an IACS MRI?

MRI IACS is usually ordered by doctors if you have these indications:

  1. Hearing loss, usually gradual — although in some cases sudden — and occurring on only one side or more pronounced on one side.
  2. Ringing (tinnitus) in the affected ear.
  3. Unsteadiness, loss of balance.
  4. Dizziness (vertigo)
  5. Facial numbness and very rarely, weakness or loss of muscle movement

Is there radiation involved?

No. An MRI is a painless radiology technique that has the advantages of avoiding radiation exposure.

When will I receive my results?

Once completed, you will receive your results within 3-5 business days in your LabFinder portal.

How do I prepare? Do I need to fast?
