Buttocks MRI is a painless radiology exam which may be performed to help examine the area of the buttocks in a non-invasive manner. It aids doctors in further evaluating the lesions or damage of the muscles in the buttocks area.
Who should get a Buttock MRI?
A Buttocks MRI is usually ordered by doctors to help diagnose Piriformis syndrome. It usually starts with pain, tingling, or numbness in the buttocks. Pain can be severe and extend down the length of the sciatic nerve (called sciatica).

No. An MRI is a painless radiology technique that has the advantages of avoiding radiation exposure.
