LabFinder.com and Project Sunshine – Sickle Cell Anemia Warriors

2 min read

LabFinder.com and Project Sunshine brought joy and warmth to children and their families dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia last Friday. By sharing a few laughs and creative moments at a party in NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Brooklyn, we celebrated the lives of these brave little warriors.

Project Sunshine is a leading volunteer-based organization delivering free in-hospital programs to over 150,000 pediatric patients and their families. They give kids the opportunity to be kids in the midst of facing very grown-up medical challenges. The activities are social, therapeutic, and give everyone in the hospital the freedom to have fun and decompress. And they know what they’re doing. Project Sunshine has been in the business of crafting joy since 1999.

We had a great time playing with bubbles and making slime. There were even two different kinds of pasta to represent normal red blood cells and sickle cells. We painted faces (and arms) and made silly faces in the photo booth. It was truly inspiring to see the energy grow as the kids became empowered through playing.

After a creative and laugh-filled evening, LabFinder sponsored a lovely feast for these amazing children and their caregivers. Taking part in Project Sunshine’s mission of giving hospitalized children back their childhood through creative, recreational and educational activities is one of the most rewarding experiences our team has had the honor to be a part of.
