What is a CT Scan:Parathyroid?
CT Scan (also known as CAT scan) of Parathyroid is a painless radiology exam which may be performed to examine the cause of pain in the neck area in a non-invasive manner. It aids doctors in detecting inflammatory conditions, tumors, and evaluating other abnormalities in the in the parathyroid and blood vessels.
Who should get this test?
Parathyroid CT Scan is usually ordered by doctors if you have these indications:
- Soft tissue masses such as in the larynx, trachea and blood vessels in the neck
- Routine neck CT scans are done with contrast
- Salivary gland stone is without and with contrast
Is there radiation involved?
Yes. CT Scan is an imaging test which involves a small amount of radiation to show pictures of the organs, tissues, and bones of the body.
