Book FilmArray Gastrointestinal (GI) Panel Near Me

What is FilmArray GI Panel?

The FilmArray GI Panel is a qualitative multiplexed diagnostics test that simultaneously detects and identifies nucleic acids from multiple bacteria, viruses, and parasites directly from stool samples obtained from individuals with signs and/or symptoms of gastrointestinal infection.

This rapid multiplex panel detection of the most common agents of bacterial, viral and parasitic enteric infections directly from stool specimens is sensitive, specific, and provides same-day results, obviating the need for culture, antigen testing, microscopy, or individual nucleic acid amplification tests.

Why FilmArray GI Panel?

    1. Comprehensive, accurate, and fast results
    2. Detection of 13 bacteria, 4 parasites, and 5 viruses from a single specimen
    3. Identification of polymicrobial infections which may be missed if using standard testing methods<
    4. Assurance of appropriate patient management and treatment

Who can be tested?

Any patient with diarrhea.

Collection procedure:

    1. Collect fetal specimen in a clean, dry, wide-mouthed container with a tight-fitting lid. If the patient has diarrhea collect a minimum of three specimen to ensure the recovery of pathogens.
    2. Using the spoon built into the cap, add small samples to the vial until the liquid level is raised to the red fill line on the label. Pay attention to areas that appear bloody or watery.
    3. Using the same spoon, mix the sample.
    4. Tightly seal a cap of the vial to prevent leakage.
    5. Firmly shake the vial until the contents appear homogenous.
    6. Label the vial with the patient’s first and last name and the date of collection.
    7. If immediate transportation to a laboratory is not possible, refrigerate the vial at 2-8°C for up to 96 hours.
