Lumbar Spine MRI is a painless radiology exam which may be performed to help visualize the lower back area in a non-invasive manner. It aids doctors in visualizing tumors, infection, inflammation, spinal stenosis, multiple sclerosis and other disc diseases.

Who should get a Lower Back MRI?

A Lumbar Spine MRI is usually ordered by doctors if you have these indications:

  1. Bulging disc
  2. Herniated disc
  3. Infection
  4. Abscess
  5. Masses or tumors or cancer
  6. Previous lumbar surgery within past 10 years
  7. Cauda Equina Syndrome

Is there radiation involved?

No. An MRI is a painless radiology technique that has the advantages of avoiding radiation exposure.

When will I receive my results?

Once completed, you will receive your results within 3-5 business days in your LabFinder portal.

How do I prepare? Do I need to fast?
