What is Liver Protocol MRI?
Liver Protocol MRI is a painless radiology exam which may be performed to help visualize the structure of the liver in a non-invasive manner. Liver MR imaging may be helpful in detecting and diagnosing lesions especially when other radiological studies are inconclusive.
Who should get a Liver MRI?
A Liver Protocol MRI is usually ordered by doctors if you have these indications:
- Skin and eyes that appear yellowish (jaundice)
- Abdominal pain and swelling
- Swelling in the legs and ankles
- Itchy skin
- Dark urine color
- Pale stool color, or bloody or tar-colored stool
- Chronic fatigue
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Tendency to bruise easily
Is there radiation involved?
No. An MRI is a painless radiology technique that has the advantages of avoiding radiation exposure.
When will I receive my results?
Once completed, you will receive your results within 3-5 business days in your LabFinder portal.
