What is an Abdominal Ultrasound?
Abdominal Ultrasound usually includes the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, RUQ and kidneys. It is a painless radiology exam that is performed to help diagnose pain and evaluate the abdomen area in a non-invasive manner. This exam can be used to check for abnormalities such as cysts or tumors, as well as used to detect the presence of blockages and abdominal infections.
Who should get a RUQ Ultrasound?
Ultrasound of Abdomen is usually ordered by doctors if you have these indications:
- Elevated LFT’s
- Right upper quadrant pain
- Biliary disease
- Portal hypertension
Is there radiation involved?
No. Unlike X-ray imaging, there is no ionizing radiation exposure associated with ultrasound imaging.

Once completed, you will receive your results within 3-5 business days in your LabFinder portal.
